SIX MILLION DOSES OF RAW VACCINE COVID-19 ARRIVED IN INDONESIA

JAKARTA (ANN) -Six million doses of the CoronaVac vaccine raw material from Sinovac arrived in Indonesia again on Sunday, April 18, 2021. The arrival of the vaccine this time is the eighth arrival of the total Covid-19 vaccine that has arrived in Indonesia since its first arrival on December 6, 2020. Garuda Indonesia aircraft Flight number GA-891 carrying the vaccine arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, at around 11.45 WIT

“Today we received the arrival of six million bulk vaccines from Sinovac China, which is part of the shipment of the 140 million bulk vaccines we will receive this year. The total that we have received from Sinovac is 59.5 million bulk vaccines, “said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in his statement at the location of the vaccine arrival.

Later, the six million doses of the vaccine raw material will first be processed and produced by PT Bio Farma which has obtained a certificate for Good Manufacturing Practices (CPOB) from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM). The Covid-19 vaccine produced by Sinovac has previously obtained a use permit from the BPOM and received a halal fatwa from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

To date, of the approximately 46 million vaccine doses that have been processed by Bio Farma, 22 million vaccine doses have been received from BUMNs that are in the production of these vaccines and antisera to be sent to all regions. The government will also strive to continue to obtain vaccine doses that will be given free of charge to approximately 181.5 million people.

“It is hoped that in the next month we can receive an additional 20 million doses of production from Bio Farma for the arrival of this bulk vaccine. Thus, we hope that the vaccination program for all regions, provinces, regencies and municipalities can run smoothly and well for April and May, “added Budi.

For information, until April 17, 2021 yesterday, the government has administered 16.6 million injections of vaccination doses to the public. Currently, the Minister of Health explained, the government is focusing on vaccinating the elderly to provide protection for those who are susceptible to exposure to the corona virus.

“It is also important to remember that during Ramadan, there is a very high probability of families wanting to meet their parents. So, please ensure that during this month the priority is given to vaccination for the elderly so that we can protect them. If later they are visited by their families, they will have relatively better immunity, “he said.

As for this month of Ramadan, the government will continue to hold free mass vaccinations for the public. Previously, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) had also issued a fatwa stating that vaccinations during Ramadan cancels fasting. This is also one of the basic considerations for the government to continue implementing the vaccination policy.

“My message to all my friends in the region, regional heads, governors, regents and mayors, continue to carry out the vaccination program. MUI has said that during the fasting month, vaccination does not invalidate fasting, ”said Budi.
