Risdiana Wiryatni: Indonesian women must be sensitive to the development of the times
Jakarta (ANN) – Indonesian women are required to be more sensitive and concerned about every second of the times, so that they are ready to provide the best solutions and contributions for the Indonesian nation.
This was conveyed by the Executive Director of Strategy Foundations Risdiana Wiryatni, Sunday, January 8, 2023
According to Risdiana, Indonesian women are required to be more sensitive and concerned about every second of the times, so that they are ready to provide the best solutions and contributions for the Indonesian nation.
“Women currently play a major role, both as individuals, wives, mothers, and citizens who are obliged to educate the next generation. Indonesian women must also be able to take part in improving the welfare of the Indonesian people,” said Risdiana, who is also a media entrepreneur.
Risdiana said, being in the era of digitalization or the era of the all-sophisticated Four Point O (4.0), provides opportunities for all Indonesian women to more easily contribute to the progress of the nation through internet access, social media, smartphones and other multimedia networks.
However, it must be used wisely, especially for things that are positive, educative and constructive.
The Role of Women in the World of Politics
Currently, the participation of Indonesian women in Parliament is still very low. According to data from the World Bank (2019), Indonesia is ranked 7th in Southeast Asia for women’s representation in parliament.
Risdiana highlighted that the low number of women’s representation in parliament has more or less affected policy issues related to gender equality and has not been able to respond to the main problems faced by women.
“Women must take a strategic role to improve the condition of this nation, one of which is through politics.
Currently the participation of Indonesian women is still below 30%. The importance of increasing women’s participation so that political decision making is more accommodative and substantial. In addition, strengthening democracy which always provides ideas related to pro-women and children legislation in the public sphere,” she said.
In the political context, said Risdiana, the role and position of women is quite marked by discrimination. The issue of the role and position of women in the public sphere is part of human rights that every human being has the right to have.
Even so, Risdiana stressed, the positive prospects for women’s political representation must be balanced with moral responsibility both in terms of idealism and implementation.
“It all depends on how strong the idealism and consistency of women’s struggles is on the political stage,” she concluded.
