Jakarta (ANN)| Secretary General of the Central Executive Council of the Association Journalist Republic of Indonesia (DPP PWRI) D. Supriyanto JN hopes that the commemoration of the National Press Day in 2022 will be a momentum for the national press industry to produce and improve the quality of press personnel, as well as improve the quality of journalism.

According to Jagad, as he is affectionately called, the national press industry has a responsibility to educate the life of society, nation and state, through good journalistic work.

In addition, said Jagad, press personnel are also required to have a spirit of nationalism and idealism. “Let’s make the momentum of the 2022 National Press Day to improve ourselves. The human resources of the press must be further improved, because the press is always facing challenges from a large time, with disruptions and technological advances.

Press personnel must equip themselves with sufficient knowledge to be able to analyze each issue clearly,” said Jagad to the media crew in Jakarta, Tuesday (8/2/2022).

As part of a great nation, Jagad hopes that press personnel must have a spirit of nationalism and idealism, considering that the media is an accelerator of change and also a pillar of democracy.

The commemoration of National Press Day in 2022, he said, should be a momentum to improve the quality of journalism in the country, in the midst of intense competition from the flood of online media companies.

“This is a challenge for all of us. In the midst of the flood of online media companies in Indonesia. Don’t get caught up in out-of-control journalism, which only chases viewers by ignoring the quality of the information presented.

Avoid making sensational titles without covering both sides, so that they can mislead the public,” he explained. In the competitive arena of the media industry, Jagad said it is natural for media companies to compete to get the most viewers.

However, he said, competition should be balanced with the presentation of valid, actual and balanced information. “This press has a strategic role in bringing Indonesia to a better direction.

We must protect this strategic role of the press together. The Indonesian press must be at the forefront to voice development messages. The press must always convey objective and constructive information and educate the public,” said the founder of this strategic network news agency.

D. Supriyanto said the press must show its role in assisting government programs, and be at the forefront in preventing the spread of Covid-19 through news that educates the public, so that a healthy Indonesia will be realized, as an effort to accelerate national economic recovery. ( nug/red )
