Through the Ministry of Transportation, I propose that an aviation college be built in Aceh. It’s name could be Seulawah, taking the name of the plane donated by the people of Aceh which was requested by President Soekarno,” said Ilham Pangestu in Jakarta, Tuesday (2/11/2021).

JAKARTA (ANN) | The representative of the Acehnese people in Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives in charge of infrastructure and transportation, Ilham Pangestu proposed the establishment of the “Seulawah” aviation college in Aceh. In the future, the graduates of this institution will give birth to generations (sons and daughters) of Aceh as reliable pilots.

“Through the Ministry of Transportation, I propose that an aviation college be built in Aceh. Its name could be Seulawah, taking the name of the plane donated by the Acehnese people requested by President Soekarno,” said Ilham Pangestu in Jakarta, Tuesday (2/11/2021).

He said that previously in Aceh there was already an aviation secondary school that educated skilled personnel in the field of aviation. “But of course it’s not enough at the high school level. We also want to build the Aviation School at the university level,” he said.

The Golkar Party politician mentioned that the proposal was submitted to the Minister of Transportation. Ilham also reminded that in the history of Indonesian nationality, the people of Aceh were the first contributors to the purchase of aircraft for a country named Seulawah RI 001, which later became the forerunner of the birth of the Garuda Indonesia airline.

“Seulawah aviation university is part of the continuation of the struggle to delivery to a generation of reliable pilots. In the past, the Acehnese people contributed planes, now is the time for the government to create (realitation) an aviation college in Aceh,” he said.

Previously, Ilham also proposed the construction of complete port facilities in Krueng Geukueh Lhokseumwe, as an export port. “Alhamdulillah, the Ministry of Transportation gave a very good response, because indeed port facilities in Aceh are still lacking,” Ilham said ending his statement. (*)
