Head of Bappenas : Improvement Knowledge Ecosystem and Innovation

The Minister of National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas gave a keynote speech in the “Webinar Improving Knowledge and Innovation Ecosystem for a Better Indonesia”. The event is held on, Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

In webinar, the Minister highlighted 3 main things that need to be done so that the improvement of the knowledge and innovation ecosystem can be realized immediately, they are:

1. Ensure that a number of priority strategies in the EPI Blueprint are accommodated in the RKP 2022. This needs to be done by all relevant levels of government and Bappenas will oversee the process;

2. Ensure that the EPI Blueprint is also integrated into the RPJPN 2025-2045; and

3. Ensure the formulation of a strategy for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the EPI Blueprint and ensure that the multilateral discussion process runs smoothly and effectively.

“The role of Bappenas, apart from being a clearing house for national development policies, is also to ensure that all elements of the knowledge and innovation ecosystem can contribute optimally to support the realization of mutual welfare,” said the Minister.

The Minister also explained that Bappenas will continue to oversee the quality of public policies including those produced through a better planning process based on a thematic, holistic, integrative and spatial approach.

“Bappenas will also oversee the collaboration and intensity of cooperation in providing evidence and analysis for better public planning and policy,” he added.

Closing his speech, the Minister emphasized that Bappenas would support the Ministry of Research and Technology in overseeing the implementation of the Knowledge and Innovation Ecosystem Blueprint.

“In closing, Bappenas will support the Ministry of Research and Technology / National Agency for Research and Technology in overseeing the implementation of the Knowledge and Innovation Ecosystem Blueprint. Bappenas will also take an active role in ensuring the role of knowledge for public policy is actually realized, “concluded the Minister.
